Interview by Benny Henderson Jr., Doghouse Boxing (Sept 21, 2008) DoghouseBoxing.com
Doghouse Boxing recently caught up with the once beaten heavyweight contender Travis Walker 28-1-1 (22), who all though was still suffering from the effects of hurricane Ike, was in relative good spirits while chatting it up with the Pound.

Walker, who has banged out three consecutive knock out victories, his last being a twenty-seven second first round romping over journeyman Wallace McDaniel, was not holding back anything when he clearly told
Doghouse Boxing who he really wanted to get in the ring with in saying, “tell Chris Arreola to stop running!”

In this exclusive interview Travis speaks on his recent endeavors in getting a fight with Arreola, as well as touching on other topics, enjoy.

Benny Henderson Jr.: You recently had a stay busy fight against Wallace McDaniel, and stopped him in the opening round. Give the readers your thoughts on the fight.

Travis Walker:
I came into the fight to try to get a little work in and not be to aggressive, but he came out very aggressive so I got him out of there.

BH: Twenty-seven seconds, he did not last long.

TW:
He came out at me real aggressive like, he was trying to take my head off, and before he had a chance to get me I got him out of there. I thought I was going to be able to work around one round but it did not work out that way.

BH: So what is next for you?

TW:
Man we are really wanting this fight with Chris Arreola, we are just hoping that we get it.

BH: Do you have any news on that possible fight?

TW:
If we do we are looking for November 29th, it is not set in stone yet, but that is something we are looking at and hoping for.

BH: Have you been training?

TW:
I haven’t stopped training. I had some fights but they both cancelled, both opponents did not show up.

BH: Let’s talk about hurricane Ike, you are down in south Texas, what is it looking like right now at your place?

TW:
Actually my place is not that bad, we have no electricity, but there is a lot of places out here where roofs done flew off, apartments and everybody on the top floors have to move because of the mildew. I have a friend of mine who was on the second floor and her whole roof came off.

BH: Yeah, we lost our power and water here for a few days and there are still people without power. It kind of makes you appreciate things when you do not have it doesn’t it?

TW:
That’s right.

BH: Man our electric was out for two days and I was already willing to knock somebody out, I was wanting to play some Play Station. (Laughs)

TW:
Yeah, man you sure miss it.

BH: If you could send out a message to Chris Arreola, what would you say?

TW:
Stop running! I would say stop running.

BH: Anything in closing?

TW:
I tried to get a fight with him before, Chris is fighting the twenty-fifth of this month, I tried to get this fight with him. They had all this stuff with negotiations and all, I took a big lump out of the fight for what this fight is worth, I was going to take the fight for less money. He took the fight, and two days later his people called my people and said that Chris said he could not get into shape on time for this fight, but he is still on the card. Chris is trying to find ways not to fight me, if you are the so called best American heavyweight out there, then prove it!
