Benny Henderson Jr.: You have out of boxing since August of 2010, how has your time been away from the ring?

Zahir Raheem:
It has been bitter sweet, I have not been under the lights, but I have been in the ring. I have been in the gym, I have a gym in Atlanta, GA. I have been in the gym training, and sparring, I have been enjoying it. But, it is nothing like being under those bright lights.

BH: Is that what prompted you to want to come back to the ring, the bright lights?

ZR:
Negative, I am not going to say, just the bright lights. I have been in the ring sparring, training and doing exhibitions with some very notable names. And I said, I am not going to let this talent go to waste. I am going to do this, and I am going to do this now, I am hungry to do this.

BH: What will you bring to the table this time around?

ZR:
Wisdom, knowledge and understanding, of the sport itself.

BH: Tell us about your opponent, Santos Pakau.

ZR:
I do not know much about him, I know he is from New Zealand, and that is about it, I do not know much about him.

BH: How long do you think it will take you to get back in the ring with some of the elite of the sport?

ZR:
The sooner the better, but I would be lying if I gave you an exact time. All I can do is get in there and let my talent take care of itself.

BH How do you feel working with Halquist will impact your career?

ZR:
Tremendously, Halquist Promotions they are very professional, and have opened their arms to me, and I am very excited to be fighting under this promotion.

BH: Any message you want to send out to the fight world concerning, Zahir Raheem?

ZR:
I am new and improved, I am hungry, and I am ready to make a statement.
