Miranda breaks the Banks!

Last night on ESPN’s Friday Night Fight’s live from the Seminole Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL, the 168-pound super middleweight contender Edison “Pantera” Miranda 32-0 (26) not only earned himself an early knock out, but an early 2008 knock out of the year candidate against the more than willing David Banks 15-4-1 (2) when he popped, dropped and stopped his foe a sadistic right hand that had Banks out of the ropes with his eyes closed and down for the count.

Banks fought hard and did his best but his best was not good enough when a big right hand from Miranda sprawled the Portland pugilist down and out of the ropes in the third round giving the Columbian his second consecutive knock out since losing to the undefeated WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik eight months back.

In the post main event the unbeaten Jean Pascal 21-0 (14) had difficulty disposing of the battle tested Philadelphian Omar Pittman 15-4-1 (8) who gave the Canadian a hard run for his money. All though Pittman was dropped in the second round he did rock and shock Pascal in the seventh and eight round to make it a go.

In the end Pascal won the bout via unanimous decision giving Pascal his twenty-first win…can anybody say Miranda-Pascal? I can!
