Guerrero schools Litzau in Thriller!
By Benny Henderson Jr (March 1, 2008) Doghouse Boxing
This past Friday night from the Tachi Palace & Casino in Lemoore, CA, which was televised on Showtime’s ShoBox: The New Generation, the two-time world title holder as well as reigning IBF Featherweight titlist, Robert “The Ghost” Guerrero 21-1-1 (15) successfully defended his championship hardware with an eighth round thrilling knockout victory over the gutsy warrior Jason Litzau 23-2 (19).

Guerrero, who came into the bout with back to back knock out victories went right to business walking down Litzau
using punishing combinations to the head and body to break down his challenger. The two fought in close quarters which gave Guerrero the opportunity to bang the body of Litzau, and with a bit of hitting and holding both were warned for their fractions, but never let up on the action.

It was clear by the fourth round that Guerrero was schooling Litzau, and all though Litzau was being beat to the punch with text book jabs and scorching left hands from the savvy southpaw, he was able to land some heat of his own in the sixth round, but it was not enough to turn the tides as Guerrero took back the action in the seventh.

In the eighth round Guerrero landed double left hands to drop Litzau, yet all though bloodied, bruised and beat down, a game and gusty Litzau jumped right back on his feet to continue the fight, but was met with more punishment from an aggressive Guerrero.

It was a gallant effort on Litzau’s part, but Guerrero threw a three punch combination that began with a left uppercut, left hook ending with a right hook that ended the fight and night dropping Litzau down and out for the count garnering “The
Ghost” the thrilling knockout victory over Litzau at 2:25 in the eighth round.

It was Guerrero’s fifth appearance on ShoBox, and his third consecutive knock out win. And now Robert has his eyes set on bigger and better names as he mentioned interest in fighters such as Marquez, Vazquez and Pacquiao.

For now congrats to Robert for his entertaining win, and congrats to his wife Casey who is now in remission and cancer free!
