Ring Rulers Rocks Shreveport!

The late great Elvis Presley used to rock out Shreveport’s Municipal Auditorium with the rockabilly sounds that filled the seats with a hopping and bopping crowd, and this past weekend Ring Rulers rocked the show with some in your face ultimate amateur fighting that had the fans out of their seats and shouting for more of the beautiful brutality the fighters offered up, and Doghouse Boxing was ringside for the fight filled action.

The main event featured an anticipated rematch between two tough Texan’s who all though were more than humble and
respectful towards one another before and after the fight, went toe to toe like bitter enemies during the throw down.

Representing Team Mercenary, the once beaten Will Campuazono (5-1) was looking to return the favor in handing down a first loss as he waged war against the only man to blemish his record, Team Bushido’s Billy Carl (4-1), both battling for the 135-pound Ark-La-Tex Texas State title.

Both combatants come out for the first round squaring off throwing jabs trying to find their reach, Campuazono began to land some stinging leg kicks, It was more of a feel out round as the two ended the opener on the ground. Round two Will continued to take it to Carl who all though was fighting back was on the retreat. Will dropped Billy with a leg sweep taking the round.

The last and final round had two combatants swinging for the fences in heated battle. Campuazono ate a big right hand from Carl, but all though the blood began to poor from Will’s nose, he kept up the heat dropping Carl with a stunning right hand. Campuazono mounted Carl and let his hands go until the ref jumped in to stop the fight at 2:53 in the third round, giving Campuazono vengeful win via strikes. It was announced that these two fighters will meet again in what shall
be a very entertaining rubber match.

The semi main event featured two fighters that no doubt had nothing but sheer hate for one another as the less than classy bunch known as Team Pinnacle and their fighter Colton Norton (13-4) took the fight to Shreveport’s very own Tigers on the Red Tim Myers (4-3) for the 175-pound Ark-La-Tex Arkansas State title.

Both fighters came firing out the ring after one another looking to bring the pain, but it was the Arkansan who had the upper hand. As the two threw punches here and there and finally squaring up Norton administered a punishing body slam and just seconds later had Myers tapping out with a triangle choke, giving Norton his thirteenth win and prompting the boos from the fans on hand who’s loyalty for their hometown hero rang out.

In a feature fight of the evening the fight fans were awarded a very solid stand up rock’em sock’em bout when their very own J.R. Fuller (1-1) who was representing Elite MMA squared off against Iron Horse Gym’s Cale Grady (3-2) in a 185-pound bout.

Both went toe to toe in a great stand up game throwing at will looking for the knock out, not only were the punches raining down the blood spilled as well. For the most part of the bout the two fought standing up but nearing the end it went to the ground and with just one second left in the first round Fuller was forced to tap out due to an armbar, giving Grady his third win.

After the bout Grady let it be known his tooth had been chipped in the fight, when asked about the situation Fuller so comically responded, “He almost snapped my arm so I guess we are even.”

It was a great night of fights that had the crowd on hand on their feet, all though it was an amateur card the blood, pain and whole hearted efforts from the combatants winners and losers was entertaining as can be and as real as it gets, Doghouse will be ringside for more of these entertaining shows.
