Last night from the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, FL, the fight fans were treated to an entertaining 154-pound match-up as the “Iron Horse” Sechew Powell 22-1 (13) trampled over Terrence Cauthen 32-4 (9) in what was fan friendly all out brawl.

To the surprise of many at the beginning of the bell Cauthen fired out of his corner jumping on Powell trying to overwhelm the Brooklyn boxer. But it was Cauthen who would feel the heat as he ate a solid right hook that
sent the New Jersey native to the canvas. Cauthen beat the ten count and went into survival mode until he got his legs back enough to finish up the round in warrior fashion.

The second round was an excellent one for action as both fighters fought toe to toe in heated battle with Cauthen getting the better half, and Terrence continued to pour to the heat to Powel in the third as Cauthen fought on the inside smothering any significant offence Powell could muster up.

It was a back and forth fight as both fighters had their moments throughout duration of the bout, but it was Sechew would prevail as he landed a sadistic right hand that sent Cauthen once again to the canvas, a wobbly legged Cauthen beat the count but it was clear to see he was in no shape or from to continue on as referee Telis Assimenios called a halt to the action at 2:19 in the fourth round giving Powell the hard earned entertaining win.

After the bout, Powell gave praise to his opponent but stating, “he was a lot quicker than what I expected, and he had
some pop as well.” But confidently demanded, “I knew I was going to prevail!”

With this win Powell earns the top spot in the IBF and is now the mandatory challenger for IBF titleholder Corey Spinks.

Urango stops Robbins in five!

Former IBF lightweight title holder Juan Urango 19-1-1 (15) continued to stay on the winning track as the strong armed southpaw broke down the long time journeyman Marty Robbins 22-40-1 (15) in five rounds to earn the hard hitting Columbian his second vicotry since dropping to defeat to the British sensation Ricky Hatton.

Urango came out plodding walking down Robbins landing thudding body shots to a retreating Robbins. It was pretty much survival mode for the long time vet as Robbins threw punches in spurts in trying to ward off any offense that Urango had.

Urango worked the body and systematically broke down Robbins dropping Marty twice in the fifth round with savage body shots, a game Robbins beat the count but was met with a vicious assault by Urango, and after a flurry of answered shots referee Frank Santore Jr. jumped in calling a halt to the bout at 2:44 in the fifth round giving Urango his second consecutive knock out victory.

Johnson remains unbeaten!

Undefeated heavyweight Kevin Johnson 18-0-1 (6) kept his unblemished record in tact with a less than entertaining showing earning an eight round unanimous decision over journeyman Jermell Barnes 18-5-1 (4).

Johnson was clearly the better fighter controlling the action with a solid jab, but still lacked the zeal in this fight to impress the fans. All though game, the out gunned Barnes was walked down eating jab after jab while Johnson racked up the points.

Barnes did try for the fight stopping hay maker but could not conjure up any night ending magic and after being beaten to the punch repeatedly, lost the bout unanimously giving the ten year vet his fifteenth loss, with this W Johnson earned his fifth of the year.
