Coming up this Saturday night April 14th at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX, live only on Pay Per View 9:00 PM ET/6:00 PM PT, the lone start state braces for a shoot out as the hot popping Filipino pugilist Manny Pacquiao 40-3-2 (33) faces off against the undefeated Jorge Solis 30-0-2 (23) in a scheduled twelve round super featherweight showdown for Pacquiao’s WBC international super featherweight strap.

Pacquiao, who is one of the hottest tickets in today’s boxing world, is the reigning ‘Fighter of the Year’ for a good
reason, his hard hitting high action packed entertaining throw downs against today’s ring warriors packs the house. In his eleven years as a professional fighter the Bukidnon born boxer has tallied up a stellar ring record that includes a hit list of today’s whose who in boxing.

In 1998, Pacquiao traveled to Thailand and took out the hometown champ Chatchai Sasakul in eight rounds to strap on the WBC Flyweight title. In the summer of 2001, all though coming in as a late substitute, Pacquiao beat down the six time defending IBF Super bantamweight champ Lehlohonolo Ledwaba taking the W as well as the 122-pound title. In 2003 Pacquiao defeated the living legend Marco Antonio Barrera with an eleventh round TKO in the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX. Since losing out unanimously to Eric Morales in March of 2003, Pacquiao has pounded out four consecutive wins; one over Oscar Larios and two knock out victories over Morales.

Pacquiao’s opponent, Jorge Solis, is an undefeated tough Mexican fighter who has earned a handful of credible wins in his nine years of professional boxing. His biggest W’s to date are against Wilson Alcorro (UD 12), Cristobal Cruz (UD 10) and Nicky Bentz (TKO 5). A tough cat in his own right but never has he faced the opposition Pacquiao has, or even as tough as Pacquiao. Unless there is a just a major upset brewing, which is always a possibility, I can easily see Pacquiao going 2-0 in the Alamodome.

So far the ticket sales have skyrocketed for this throw down and it is projected to be the second biggest boxing event in San Antonio history, just below the 1993 showdown between Pernell Whitaker vs. Julio Cesar Chavez.
