Last night on Showtime’s championship boxing, the hard hitting and again newly crowned WBC super bantamweight title holder Israel Vazquez 42-4 (32 KO’s) earned back his strap with a sixth round TKO victory over his former foe Raphael Marquez 37-4 (33 KO’s) in an entertaining back and forth war.

The Dodge Arena in Hidalgo, TX was ground zero for what was an entertaining bitter battle between the two ring warriors, who both picked up where they left off in their last go around.

The two went back to where they left off as both traded in the opening round, and in entertaining classic fashion, Marquez who was rocked in the third came back and out a hurting on his opponent.

All though the fight was back and forth, a bloodied and battered up Vazquez (who had cuts over both eyes) dropped Marquez in the early seconds of the sixth round with a textbook left hand. Soon after both went back to war with Vazquez getting the better half a barrage of punches which promoted referee Guadalupe Garcia to call a halt to the bout at 1:16 in the sixth round giving Vazquez an entertaining yet controversial win.

All though Vazquez won the bout with an entertaining TKO, the Showtime commentators as well as some ringside fans felt that a very coherent Marquez could have went on with the war.

Either way, both picked up where they left off months back giving the fans a very much amusing bout, can
you say three-peat?
