Cornelius Bundrage
Coming up February 23rd, at the Joe Luis Arena in Detroit, MI, IBF light middleweight title holder Cornelius Bundrage 32-4 (19), will put his title at stake, as he takes on upset minded, as well as tough as nails, Ishe Smith 24-5 (11), to be televised on Showtime. Bundrage, who will be fighting in his backyard for the first time since 2005, plans on putting on a show for his hometown fans. And all though Smith has never been out in his career, the K9 strongly states, that he is going for Smith’s chin. in this exclusive interview, Bundrage speaks out on his upcoming fight, enjoy.

Benny Henderson Jr.: I appreciate the phone call, what’s been going down in the world of K9 Bundrage?

Cornelius Bundrage: Team K9 is in the house, it is always good to do business with Doghouse Boxing, since I’m a dog! (He growls, and we both laugh)

BH: You are slated to defend your title against Ishe Smith February 23rd, your thoughts on that match-up?

K9:
We feel like Ishe Smith has paid his dues so we will give him a shot at the title. I feel like he probably earned it, i just want to get back in the ring. Ishe Smith is a chosen opponent.

BH: Looking at Smith, he is not known for his power, but, he is very tough and can be a slick guy in the ring. Plus, he has never been knocked out in twenty-nine bouts. In your opinion, how do you see this fight playing out?

K9:
I do not predict the future, because God only knows the future. But, I do believe in my heart that I am going to win the fight. I will still be the champion of the world come February 23rd, so tune in, it is going to be on Showtime. The dog is coming, I am just happy to be be back in the ring and fighting in my hometown. I take my hat off to Ishe Smith, we have been going back and forth on the Internet about who is going to win, and we are going to do to each other. But, that is a part of boxing, we bark and bite a little bit.

BH: If you could send a message out to Ishe Smith before the fight, using Doghouse as a platform, what would that message be?

K9:
I’m coming for that chin! (He Barks) The dog is coming!

BH: Anything in closing?

K9:
To all my friends, fans and family, keep me in prayer, if you are not saved, get saved. Jesus for life, and Jesus is the way!
