After watching Robert Guerrero maul Andre Berto this weekend, I thought
to myself… what would happen if he and Manny Pacquiao ever fought? The
answer is, “MADNESS and MAYHEM”, because both fighters are warriors
and the bout would be exceptionally entertaining.
Guerrero showed that like Pacquiao, can take a punch at
welterweight. After coming up and winning world titles from the lighter
weights, Guerrero and Pacquiao proved they are in a league of their own
as both are the only active fighters to compete in six weight classes.
In addition, Guerrero likes to go toe to toe and Manny is a powerful
puncher. Both guys are southpaws, so stylistically it would be an
intriguing matchup. Manny with his aggressive attack, colliding with
Guerrero’s gritting inside fighting would be epic. When you compare
styles, Floyd is defensive minded, and Guerrero and Pacquiao are
offensive minded, which makes for a way more compelling fight.
Also, Guerrero now has the boxing fans behind him with his brutal
destruction against Berto, who by no means is a pushover. Furthermore
Guerrero has an incredible back story to go along with his notable
boxing skills. To me it’s a no brainer because from a marketing
standpoint, the Hispanic fans would rally behind Guerrero as Manny is
the so called Mexican killer, so the Pay Per View numbers would be
terrific.
Without a doubt, I would pay top dollar on Pay Per View to see Pacquiao
vs. Guerrero, which in my opinion could be one of those fights that
fans will remember for the ages.
So bring on Mayweather? No, if all goes well against Marquez, I say bring on Pacquiao!
