Twenty-year old, 154-pound unbeaten prospect, Alantez Fox 7-0-1 (3),
looks to close out 2012 with a bang, as he takes on thirty-nine fight
veteran Jimmy LeBlanc 13-22-4 (5). this weekend at the Convention Center
in the District of Columbia, in a scheduled six round match-up.
Standing 6‘5“, the Maryland born boxer believes his height, and speed is
a winning ingredient. In this exclusive interview, Fox speaks out on
his career and more, enjoy.
Benny Henderson Jr.: What influenced you to want to lace up the gloves and become a fighter?
Alantez Fox: I started off about eight years old, I seen a few friends of mine go to
the local gym. They were older, but I figured if they could do it, then I
could. That was what started it, I felt that I was going to be a
fighter.
BH
You have seven wins without any losses on your record, but, you do have
one draw. Let’s talk about that one draw, which actually came in your
last fight. I did not get to see the fight sop I have no opinion, but,
what is your honest opinion on the decision?
AF
I feel like I out boxed him, I feel like I won it, I know I landed the
cleaner punches, I know that I at least won six out of the eight rounds.
I might have of done more, but it was a good experience. I walked in
the fight I had maybe fifteen people rooting for me, when I left, I had
so many more people giving me congratulations, telling me that I won the
fight. I won the crowd over, so I do believe that I won the fight, and I
was in his backyard.
BH
You have the fight coming up this weekend, that will be your third fight of 2012. What does 2013 hold for you?
AF
Hopefully more fights.
BH
What separates you from the others in your division?
AF
My height, 6‘5“, I am not your typical 154-pound fighter. I can move, I
can fight on the inside, outside, basically it is my movement. I use my
footwork to fight on the inside and outside.
BH
Besides your height?
AF
My jab, and my movement, those two are keys to victory. I have a job
like Larry Holmes or Tommy Hearns, it is fast, sharp, accurate. Once I
touch you with the jab, you cannot see what is coming from behind it.
Because my jab is so sharp.
BH
Why sould a fight fan witness one of your fights?
AF
Because it is exciting, I am the man to watch, it is going to be
exciting, it may be a knock out, or not, but it is going to be action
packed and exciting.
BH
If you could send a message out to the fight world, what would that message be?
AF
Watch out for Alantez “Sly as a Fox” Fox. I am going to make it up
there, there is no doubt in my mind, i will be one of the best at
154-pounds, maybe even middleweight. I am still growing.
BH
Anything in closing?
AF
