Super middleweight LaFarrell ‘Memphis Fairway’ Bunting, 16-1-1 (16), of Memphis, Tennessee (who currently fights out of Tough Enough Boxing Gym in San Marcos, Texas) has been a very busy man lately and on a roll recently when he filled in as a late substitute on Showtime on April 4, 2006, competing in their super middleweight tournament which aired live and gave LaFarrell Bunting the further exposure that this rising young star deserves and is finally getting. His fight against fellow knockout artist Jose Luis ‘La Pantera’ Herrera, 14-2 (14), of San Onofre,
Colombia came to a crashing halt when Bunting scored a TKO victory to end the scheduled 10 round bout.

This is a huge opportunity for Bunting, who fought his heart out and proved to everyone out there watching, as well as to the boxing public that he is a force to be reckoned with that his time has arrived. LaFarrell took the fight on four days notice and still managed to clean up Herrera, who was initially supposed to face off against Sakio ‘The Scorpion’ Bika, 20-1-2 (13), when he let loose an assault of repeated unanswered blows that left Herrera pinned up against the ropes with nowhere to go and no way out of the crossfire. Referee Kenny Bayless gave Jose Luis a standing eight and having seen enough stopped the action at 1:20 of round 5.

Bunting now gets to advance in the Super Middleweight tournament which is promoted by Gary Shaw Productions, LLC. The tournament is eventually going to give two fighters of the initial eight who entered into the tournament the break of appearing on television three times in seven months by process of elimination. Bunting faces off against Tony ‘The Tyger’ Hanshaw, 20-0 (13), of Warren, Ohio, who also won his fight in the tournament by shutting out Esteban ‘Rocky’ Camou, 18-2 (15), in a 10 round unanimous decision victory. The tournament will resume on Friday, October 6th on Showtime and the winner will be crowned the IBO Super Middleweight Champion.

Keep an eye out for ‘Memphis Fairway’ people, who is punching his way to the top and coming to your neighborhood real soon. Until then….
