Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder (28-0, 28 KOs) remained undefeated by stopping former UK heavyweight champion Audley Harrison (31-7, 23 KOs) in the opening stanza at the Motorsport Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire.

The bout was telecast live on BoxNation.tv.

Until the knockdown, the round was tentative. Wilder jabbed to the body and head. Harrison, 41, tried to keep his distance and shoot his jab. He had stated before the fight that his boxing mojo was back.

Wilder eventually maneuvered Harrison to the ropes.

His mojo lives in his right hand.

Wilder unleashed the right a little past the minute mark of the round. The shot landed on the temple of Harrison. The former UK heavyweight champion wobbled sideways. Wilder jumped on his prey and unloaded some wild rights and lefts. Harrison went down on his side. He pulled himself up at the count of nine, but his legs deceived him. The referee waved off the contest.

The time was 1:10 seconds of round one.

“I had a great camp,” said Wilder. “I’m a beast. I train hard. This is a God given talent for me."

“God has a purpose for me. I took another step tonight. I’m ready for whoever,” Wilder added.

“I beat the count and wanted to continue,” said Harrison.

He later stated that his boxing career is over.
