The money was paid in full.

In a bout many called the “Fight of the 21st Century,” Floyd “Money” Mayweather (48-0, 26 KOs) outworked peoples champion Manny Pacquiao (57-6-2, 38 KOs) over 12 rounds to win a clear unanimous decision at a sold-out MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, NV. Saturday night.

The scores were 118-110 and 116-112 (twice.)

Doghouseboxing.com and Maxboxing.com scored the fight 117-111 for Mayweather.

Speculation was rampant that Pacquiao would attack Mayweather seconds into the fight.

The reality was far different. It was Mayweather who threw the first punch. Pacquiao looked for an opening, but found it difficult to connect with anything. Mayweather landed two cracking right hands on the chin of Pacquiao.

Pacquiao came out more aggressively in round two. Mayweather jabbed effectively. Another right hand connected. Pacquiao landed a good right hand to the heart. He forced Mayweather into the ropes, but the 38-year-old champion moved away.

Mayweather continued to get off first in round three. His right hand landed a number of times. He was keeping the action in the center of the ring. Pacquiao connected with strong right hook that knocked Mayweather back a step.

Pacquiao, 36, opened round four by landing a hard punch. Seconds later a big left to the chin hurt Mayweather. The undefeated champion stumbled into ropes. He looked buzzed, but he covered up well. Pacquiao threw a number of punches, but nothing really connected.

Mayweather was back in control in round five. He landed right hands to the head and body. One of the punches sent Pacquiao into the ropes. He protected himself, but Mayweather connected with another good shot to the chin.

Pacquiao fired combinations seconds into round six. Mayweather caught Pacquiao on the ropes with a good body punch. Pacquiao pushed the action and fired shots from different angles. Mayweather stayed on the ropes and paid for it.

In round seven, Mayweather clubbed Pacquiao with a sold right. He jabbed and boxed. Pacquiao chased after Mayweather and landed a left hand.

Mayweather threw the first punch in round eight. Pacquiao clobbered him with a couple of good lefts. He landed a good body shot. Mayweather absorbed the blows and connected with his own right and left hook. Seconds later he did it again.

In round nine, Pacquiao clipped Mayweather’s chin with a hard left hand. Mayweather caught Pacquiao with his own left and right. Pacquiao found Mayweather’s chin with another sharp left hand. Mayweather, like an efficient machine, continued to throw his lead right hand. It’s accuracy is uncanny.

Pacquiao was behind on this writers scorecard heading into round 10. He needed to make something happen. Mayweather was controlling the action. Pacquiao went to the body. Pacquiao walked into another right. blow. Mayweather used feints to keep Pacquiao guessing. Pacquiao caught Mayweather with a healthy shot in the middle of the round.

Mayweather connected with a strong right to the ear in round 11. A few seconds later, a combination found pay dirt. Pacquiao missed a left and ran into a uppercut. Mayweather slipped out of the corner and clipped Pacquiao with check hooks. His movement was causing Pacquiao problems.

Entering the last round, Pacquiao needed a knockout to win.

He bobbed and weaved--looking for a home run blow. Mayweather stuck his left in Pacquiao’s face. Pacquiao tried, but couldn’t land anything solid. Mayweather boxed and punched. In the last few seconds of the stanza, he raised his right hand to let the fans know who he thought had won the fight.

He was right.

“I want to thank God for this victory,” said Mayweather. “Manny Pacquiao is a helluva fighter. I want to thank all the fans who came out to support us.”

“I thought I won the fight,” said a disappointed Pacquiao.
