Chris "The Nightmare" Arreola annihilated Seth Mitchell in the first round Saturday night at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, CA.
Mitchell (26-2-1, 19 KOs) wanted to box in the opening stanza, but Arreola (36-3, 31 KOs) used pressure to force the action. Mitchell landed a good combination. Arreola stepped inside and uncorked a right hand. The punch rocked Mitchell badly - he grabbed Arreola and held on.
After being thrown to the canvas, Mitchell got up, but was still wobbly. A combination of punches dropped him officially. Mitchell, fighting out of desperation, connected with a hard left hook, but Arreola didn’t blink. A series of punches knocked Mitchell into the ropes where referee Jack Reiss determined that he couldn’t defend himself.
The time was 2:26.
"I was up for this fight," said the elated Arreola after the fight. "I respect Seth for his power. He hit me a couple of times. This title (NABO) mean nothing. I want the big one."
"I got caught," Mitchell said. "I’m very disappointed. In my heart it hurts right now."
