Oscar De La Hoya, president of Golden Boy Promotions announced today he has returned to rehab and will not attend this Saturday’s mega-fight that his company is promoting between Floyd 'Money' Mayweather and Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

De La Hoya, 40, who has admitted to drug and alcohol problems in the past, checked himself into a treatment center.

In a statement, De La Hoya said, “Canelo Alvarez and I have big fights coming up this weekend. His is the ring and mine in treatment. I will not be at the fight to cheer Canelo to victory since I have voluntarily admitted myself into a treatment facility. (You can read the full statement released by De La Hoya - click here.)

De La Hoya, 40, captured Olympic gold in 1992 and won 10 world titles in a professional career that lasted until 2008.

Doghouseboxing wishes Oscar and his family the best.
