In a stay busy fight, lightweight John Molina Jr. (27-3, 22 KOs) knocked out tough veteran Jorge Pimentel (26-18, 19 KOs) in round two on the undercard of the Andre Ward vs. Edwin Rodriguez fight.
The bout was held at the Citizens Bank Arena in Ontario, California.
Molina stalked Pimentel from the opening bell. As always he ate a few shots, but landed a number of heavy ones. In round two, Molina worked his opponent over. His shots were wearing Pimentel down. Two strong right hands floored Pimentel for a count of five. A left hook to the liver dropped Pimentel a few seconds later. Molina finished matters with a barrage of punches that toppled Pimentel.
The time was 2:59 seconds of round two.
“I always respect every man I fight,” said Molina after the fight. “As soon as I realized what he had, I went for the knockout. Everyone knows my style.”
