Things were looking great for Jeff Lacy who just came off a win over Epifanio Mendoza this past Wednesday night and seemed headed for a fight with Jermain Taylor. However things seem to have drastically changed on Friday as Lacy is now claiming he is retiring from boxing.

Quoted in the The Tampa Tribune, Lacy stated: "I'm retiring, There will be no fight between me and Jermain."

When asked by the publication why the sudden change of heart? Lacy did not elaborate much, just stating he was done and the sport is dirty. "I'm just retiring. I'm done," said Lacy, adding: "This business is dirty. That's all I have to say. This is a very dirty business. I would advise anyone who has kids not to ever let them fight in this business."

Dave Itskowitch representing Golden Boy Promotions refused to comment on Lacy's sudden plans to retire. Itskowitch, quoted by the publication, stated: "I really have no comment until I speak to Jeff."
