Oscar De La Hoya takes on Manny Pacquiao this coming December 6th and Ricky Hatton faces off against Paulie Malignaggi on November 22nd. If De La Hoya gets by his challenge and Hatton can manage to do the same, then there is a good chance that De La Hoya vs. Hatton will come off in 2009.

The highly respected CEO for De La Hoya's promotional company, Richard Schaefer, recently spoke to the The Times in regards to a possible clash between the Golden Boy and the Hitman. Schaefer tells
the publication that for De La Hoya to move forward with any plans, it will depend on the result of his upcoming fight with Pacquiao.

Schaefer stated: "Depending on the result, depending on how he feels, he is going to have, maybe, a couple more fights next year."

Schaefer went on to add that he feels a De La Hoya-Hatton match-up would be a natural choice.

"If everything goes well and Ricky wins against Malignaggi and Oscar wins against Pacquiao, I think a De La Hoya-Hatton fight is a natural," said Schaefer, adding: "Both of them are, weight-wise, five to six pounds apart. That fight at Wembley Stadium is a dream of mine and a dream of many boxing fans. Sometimes dreams come true."
