Young Guns Progress Report
By Julian Kasdin (April 10, 2006)
Alexander 'Baby Face' Dimitrenko
Saturday, April 8, saw three young guns; Alexander Dimitrenko, Aleksander Alekseev and Chazz Witherspoon continue their winning ways with dominating performances over their competition.

Alexander ‘Baby Face’ Dimitrenko improved to 21-0 (12) with a near shutout performance against the rugged Fernely Feliz. Dimitrenko, who had been inactive for several months due to injury, once again put his skill to great use, and reaffirmed his position as a young heavy to keep on the look out for. The 6’7” 250 pound 23 year old is a huge fighter who prefers to use his skill and arsenal to out box his opponents. Dimitrenko probably posses more power then his record would indicate as the young man has made a point of fighting tough opposition including Vaughn Bean, Andreas Sidon and Ross Puritty. Dimitrenko is ranked in the WBO top fifteen, at number eleven. His next fight could conceivably be against someone like Sinan Samil Sam, and a win of that caliber would easily push him into the rankings of every sanctioning body.

On the same card Aleksander Alekseev moved to 3-0 (3), with a brutal first round knockout of Alexander Subin. Alekseev is a highly skilled 6’2” 205 to 210 pound 24 year old fighter with amateur credentials that rival any other active heavy. Alekseev has a solid jab and powerful quick straight that can punch through an opponent’s defense. He has fast hands for heavy, as well as deceptive power for a man his size. Over the next few months he should become a solid 210 to 215 pound heavyweight. Alekseev’s next fight should be against someone like Ihar Shukala, a fighter with over twenty fights and some power behind his punch.

Chazz ‘Mensa with Muscle’ Witherspoon moved to 11-0 (7) against durable David Polk. Chazz is one of the young American heavyweights that I am very high on as he combines solid skill with size and power. His management has made a point of him fighting durable opponents, as Chazz has fought several guys with tough chins that have given him much needed ring time early one. Chazz has very good size for a heavy, standing at 6’4” and tipping the scales at near 230 pounds, and is the second largest American young gun.
