Kathy Duva, CEO of Main Events brings in another “giant” for their top heavyweight the former IBF cruiserweight champion Tomasz Adamek , 43-1 (28), of Poland and Newark, Saturday night at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.   “The Clones Colossus” Kevin McBride, 35-8-1 (29), now out of Brockton, MASS, where Rocky Marciano and “Marvelous” Marvin Hagler made famous.  The 6’06” McBride who once stopped “Iron” Mike Tyson in 2005 is looking for another “name” to put him back into the title picture.

Adamek has defeated 6’04” Andrew Golota in October of 2009, 6’04” Chris Arreola, in April of 2010 along with 6’07” Michael Grant in August in preparation for one of the Klitschko brothers titles.  He holds the IBF International and WBO NABO heavyweight titles since moving up in weight 5 fights ago in defeating Golota in Poland.

McBride came back in October of 2010 after a 3 year lay-off.  He entered what they call the “Prizefighter” Tournament in the UK defeating Franklin Egobi, 15-3, but losing to the former Commonwealth champion Matt Skelton, 23-5.

“April 9th is an important fight or both fighters: in Kevin McBride’s case this is a great opportunity for him; in Tomasz’s case he has a great opportunity ahead of him in Poland where he has an offer to fight one of the Klitschko brothers in September,” said Kathy Duva.

There will be another 6 fights on the undercard including 2008 Olympian Sadam “World Kid” Ali, 11-0 (6), who has become a favorite at the Prudential Center.   The former WBO heavyweight champion Siarhei “White Wolf” Liakhovich, 25-3 (16) was to make his return but suffered an injury in training.  Top matchmaker J Russell Peltz is bringing in Javier Perez, 8-4 (5) of Puerto Rico for Ali in an 8 round semi-windup bout.

In another 8 rounder will be Ray Smith, 9-5 (3), from Little Rock, ARK, meeting Poland’s Andrzej Fonfara, 16-2 (7), in a welterweight match.  Josellito Collado, 11-0 (3), of Queens, NY, will meet Rafael Lora, 11-3 (5), a Dominican now out of Irvington, NJ, in an 8 round light heavyweight match.

Jose “Mangu” Peralta, 5-1 (3), of Jersey City, NJ, meets Ever Luis Perez, 12-19 (9), of Bolivar, COL, in a 4 round junior welterweight match.  Willie Morgan, 0-0-1, of Philadelphia, PA, is meeting Shemuel Pag, 2-0 (1), of Brooklyn, NY.   The show opener should be popular Vinny O’Brien, 1-0 (1), of East Hanover, NJ, in a 4 round welterweight match.

“I’m from Ireland, I’m Irish and I’m proud to be a fighter.  I’m coming here to fight.  This is a big fight for me,” said McBride.  Adamek who is a man of few words whom likes to let his fists do his talking was brief.  “This is my next step before Klitschko.  My wife says I have ADHD, I cannot sit still at home with nothing doing, this is my life.”   Fights start at 7PM and are a Main Events & Ziggy Promotion live on PPV.
