Amir Monsour
Looking to win his eighth straight by knockout this Friday Amir “Hardcore” Mansour, 13-0 (10), of Wilmington, DE, takes on his most experienced opponent to date in Raymond “King Kong” Ochieng, 23-13-3 (18), of Nairobi, Kenya for the WBF Intercontinental title over 10 rounds at the Rollins Center Arena in the Dover Downs Hotel & Casino in Dover, DE!

Mansour has scored 4 straight knockouts since returning to the ring after a 9 year absence. Manager Keith Stoffer welcomed him back with open arms. Moses Robinson is his trainer. He wow’s the fans every time he enters the ring as he did in Atlantic City last month destroying Hector Ferreyro, 21-9-2, in 2:08 of the first round at Bally’s in Atlantic City! The southpaw knockout artist hasn’t allowed anyone to last 3 rounds with him in his last 7 fights. This will be the first 10 rounder for Mansour. Ochieng made his US debut in April and has fought in Poland, Russia, Tanzania, Ukraine and Germany.

In another heavyweight title fight co-feature Franklin “Yah-Yah” Lawrence, 14-2-2 (9), of Indianapolis will defend his title against Jason “The Sensation” Gavern, 20-7-4 (9), of Kissimmee, FL, for the Caribbean title over 12 rounds. Lawrence stopped Olympian Jason Estrada for the title in January. In his previous fight he stopped former contender Lance Whitaker. His only loss in his last 13 fights was to former world champion Oliver McCall.

Back in 2008 Gavern defeated Harold Sconiers in Lewes, DE. He is coming off a knockout win over Darnell “Ding-A-Ling” Wilson and a draw in Germany with Kronk’s Jonathan Banks. Featured on the undercard will be Smyrna’s super middleweight Mike Tiberi, 16-1 (7), will take on Timothy “the Boss” Hall, 6-10 (4), of Athens, GA, over 8 rounds. It will also mark the pro debut of lamateur sensation super featherweight Omar Douglas of Wilmington.

Other local boxers appearing will be Kennett Square’s light heavyweight Anthony Smith, 9-0 (7), Hockessin’s Cruiserweight Dan “Badda Bing” Biddle, 6-1 (4) and unbeaten female featherweights Ronica Jeffrey, 6-0 (1), of Brooklyn who will be making her fourth appearance at the casino against Liz Sherman, 3-0 (1), of Philadelphia.

There should be plenty of action with matchmaking by Nick Tiberi and the promotion by Dover Downs Hotel & Casino. First fight scheduled for 7:30pm.
