Former Philly boxer Blaine Garner’s Shalyte Entertainment in association with Jimmy Burchfield’s Classic Entertainment Sports will join together for an ESPN2 and July 10th show at the Arena in South Philly!

It is Garner’s promotional debut in the field of boxing. He already had a show scheduled for the Arena when he got the call from Burchfield to put his ESPN2 show there. In the main event top cruiserweight contender Matt “Too Smooth” Godfrey, 18-1 (10), of Providence Rhode Island goes against unbeaten Shawn
“Sioux Warrior” Hawk, 18-0 (16) of Sioux Falls, South Dakota in a 12 round bout. In Godfrey’s corner will be top trainer and author John “The Iceman” Scully. “I believe Matt is one of the top cruiserweights in the world and is realistically several steps above Hawk in terms of style, ability, talent and experience. If Matt fights up to his ability then I think the world will see this too,” said Scully.

The co-feature is co-promoted with DiBella Entertainment featuring light heavyweight contenders Shaun George, 18-2-2 (9), of Brooklyn, New York against Chris “Hard Hittin” Henry, 23-2 (18), of Houston, Texas in a 10 round bout.

An additional bout just added is featuring Germantown’s Derek “Pooh” Ennis, 17-2-1 (12) against John Mackey, 11-3-2 (5), of Montgomery, Alabama, who just got the short end of the stick in a draw against Jesse Nicklow, 19-1-1, in Glen Burnie, Maryland, a fight that this writer attended 3 weeks ago. This will be an 8 round bout.

North Philly’s popular light heavyweight Tony “Boom Boom” Ferrante, 7-0 (4), will be against Bakersfield, California’s Billy “Billy Goat” Bailey, 8-3 (3), in an 8 round bout for the WBF All America’s title. “I’m not overlooking this guy. He better come in shape. I feel very good fighting for this title in just my 8th fight,” said Ferrante.

There will be 7 other bouts totaling 70 rounds of scheduled boxing. Two 6 round bouts will feature unbeaten boxers in Philly’s Coy Evans and Lancaster’s Isaac Suarez. In 4 round bouts there will be popular local lady boxers in separate bouts with Olivia Fonseca and Jackie Davis. Derrick Webster, Angel Ocasio and Kareem Harrison will also appear.

There will be a boxing press conference Wednesday, July 8th at 1pm at the Fox & Hound on 1501 Spruce Street in center city, Philadelphia. Promoter Garner will supply lunch, autographs and pictures with boxers on the card.

The Arena is located at Swanson and Ritner Streets a block off Oregon Avenue and Front Street. Tickets are priced at $45, $60 and $65 and can be purchased calling the Arena at 267-687-7560; Shalyte Promotions at 215-287-7949 and LeCrown Barber Shop at 215-927-5027.
