Philly’s “Hammerin” Hank Lundy,
22-1 (11) is possibly ESPN2’s busiest boxer. On this Friday he
will once again headline at Resorts Hotel & Casino, in Atlantic
City, NJ. Lundy will be defending his NABF lightweight title against
Mexican Raymundo “Sugar” Beltran, 25-6 (17), now of Phoenix, AZ,
over 10 rounds. This is a Jimmy Burchfield CES promotion over ESPN2.
Lundy is the WBC’s No. 1 contender,
No. 3 IBO, No. 7 IBF and No. 9 WBO contender. He has won his last 4
fights since suffering his only defeat. The combined record of these
4 opponents was 91-8-1.
Beltran has won 3 belts starting with
FECARBOX featherweight in 2002, WBC Continental Americas in 2008 and
the USBA lightweight in 2011. He also stopped then 21-1 David Torres
in 2011.
Philly’s Farah Ennis, 19-1 (12), won
the vacant NABF super middleweight title in 2010 prior to his only
loss by majority decision. He is the No. 5 NABF contender at present
since title became vacant January of 2012. His opponent Richard
Pierson, 11-2 (8), of Paterson, NJ, has stopped 2 Philly boxers in
Jamaal Davis and in his last fight Charles Hayward. This is a
scheduled 10 round super middleweight fight. At the Muhammad Ali Gym
Monday in the Germantown section of Philly Ennis proclaimed “this
will be a new beginning”. He is trained by his father Bozy Ennis.
In a special 6 round bout Philly’s
unbeaten bantamweight Miguel Cartagena, 5-0 (3), takes on Mexican
Jose “Chilli” Rivera, 3-6-2 (0), now out of New Rochelle, NY.
Cartagena is a former amateur champion and top prospect. Rivera’s
last 5 opponents have been unbeaten, with a draw in Philly against
then 5-1 Angel Cruz last year.
There will be 6 bouts over 4 rounds
featuring New Jersey boxers Isiah Seldon, 6-0 (3), of Somers Point,
Ismael Garcia 3-0 (0), of Millville, Josh Mercado, 5-1 (2), of Cape
May, Antowyan Aikens, 5-0 (1), of Atlantic City, Anthony Young, 5-0
(2), of Atlantic City and Joe Smith, Jr., 10-1 (10) of Long Island,
NY.
Doors open at 6pm and first bout at 7pm
per Michael Parente, Sr. Director of Editoral Content.
Syndicate’s Promotions LLC presents
Philly southpaw Tevin Farmer, 6-3-1 (1), who will travel to the
Columbus Civic Center, in Columbus, GA, Saturday night, and try to
add the IBS lightweight title to his light welter title won in
Philadelphia over Tim Witherspoon, Jr. in January of 2012. Farmer
will meet Rasool Shakoor, 3-10-1 (1), of Jackson, MI, over 8 rounds.
On Monday Farmer said “I’m ready and at 134 now”. Farmer is a
very exciting Philly boxer who reminds us of shades of “Gypsy”
Joe Harris. He is trained by Chip Mills out of the MLK in Philly and
managed by Jane Scholl. The team will be leaving Thursday for GA.
Witherspoon, Jr. will be featured on the undercard.
