Promoter Art Pelullo/Banner Promotions and Rodney Berman/Golden Gloves will present a twin bill on Friday, August 22, 2008, at the Sommet Center, Nashville, Tennessee, shown on ESPN2.
The main event will be 12 rounds for the vacant IBO featherweight title, with Fernando Beltran, Jr., 30-3-1 (18), of Culiacan, Mexico, against Takalani Ndlovu, 28-4 (28), of Johannesburg, South Africa.
For Beltran it will be his third try for a title. In his most recent bout in April, he lost a decision to IBF junior featherweight champion Joan Guzman, To his credit, Beltran has a non-title win over Victor Rabanales in a WBC bantamweight match.
Ndlovu is a former IBO super bantamweight champion. He has won 7 of his last 8 bouts, only losing to Steve Molitor.
In the co-feature bout two unbeaten junior middleweights will finally get to meet after a March match-up had been cancelled as Jason LeHoullier, 21-0-1 (8), of Portland, Maine, tangles with Harry Joe Yorgey, 20-0-1 (9), of Bridgeport, Pennsylvania, in a scheduled 12 round bout for the vacant IBF North American title.
In last weeks pre-fight gathering, promoter Pelullo and Yorgey met before a packed room at Steppy’s Bar and Grill, in Norristown, Pennsylvania. Both fielded questions from press and fans of Yorgey. This is a pivotal fight between these two evenly matched boxers. Though Yorgey wasn’t able to fight LeHoullier, he was at ringside observing what will be his toughest opponent to date. Both boxers are promoted by Banner Promotions. It will be Yorgey’s first fight for his new promoter. He will also have trainer and conditioner Henry Racich in his corner for the first time. P.R. man Kurt Wolfheimer who arranged this gathering will accompany the team. This fight could overshadow the main event. Both fighters are putting a lot on the line and both are known for their exciting fights.
