Will a Mosley win gain him an Oscar?

Most of us thought that “Sugar” Shane Mosley should never have gotten the decision in his rematch with Oscar De La Hoya in September of 2003. All three judges had it 115-113 in Mosley’s favor. Like the Trinidad fight, it was always “unsettled business” for Oscar.

Now that Mosley works for Golden Boy it’s been doubtful that the two would ever meet again. Even though De La Hoya is scheduled to fight Manny Pacquiao on December 6th there is always the chance
even up to 30 days before the bout De La Hoya will not meet the weight requirement. That could be the time Mosley steps in!

There is much more on the line for Mosley than his next opponent Ricardo Mayorga on Saturday night. Mayorga seems to be reduced to someone who makes his opponent look good. This certainly was the case in his fight with Trinidad.

Mayorga is at his best “before” the fight. He knows how to build a fight with his mouth. Neither fighter has fought since November of 2007. The only time Mosley has fought at the Staples Center in Los Angeles was his fight with De La Hoya. In Mayorga’s case he has fought there twice going back to 2001 in a no contest bout with Andrew “6 Heads” Lewis. The other was his last fight in which he beat Fernando Vargas. The site will not give either fighter an edge. The edge could be in Mosley’s favor in gaining a third fight with Oscar!
