The dream match everyone is talking about is Manny Pacquiao vs Floyd Mayweather Jr. The talk is fierce and the probability of the fight coming off is strong. Both sides want the fight, and it should happen, but it's the details that will need to be ironed out that could be the determining factor.

Of course I want this fight to come off, but does it need to happen as soon as possible? I say No! In fact, I do not want either party to rush into things. Lets be truthful, both fighters are coming off impressive wins
against tough opponents. In September Floyd Mayweather Jr. made his return to the ring after a 21 month lay off and won an impressive 12 round unanimous decision against Juan Manuel Marquez, while Pacquiao in thrilling fashion took out Miguel Cotto this past Saturday with a 12th round TKO.

No matter what anyone says or thinks, most of us know just how tough to score victories against the likes of Marquez and Cotto can be. Mayweather Jr. and Pacquiao made their fights look easy... but truth be told, if it was easy....we'd all be boxing!

Before Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. face one another, I'd like to see both fighters take up tune up fights first. Nothing too hard, its a tune up I am talking about here.

Now I understand, these two do not need tune-ups... one look at Mayweather Jr's comeback from a 21 month lay off only proves that... but I think we'd get the best out of both fighters if they took an easy fight each before taking on the hardest fights of their lives when the two finally meet.

Stretching it out a little will give time for better negotiations, and will only drive the hype around this fight even higher.

Look I can wait, and chances are that Pacquiao and Mayweather Jr. won't face one another until next Summer (maybe the Spring, but I doubt it.) That in my opinion is too long for either fighter to be waiting on the sidelines and plenty of time to get in a tune up before their epic clash comes to be. Boxing could use the action and fans love these two fighters... so why make the fans wait? The only thing a tune up will do, besides line their pockets with some more well deserved cash, is sharpen their skills that much more before they fight each other. Sitting around waiting for one another is not going to improve their skills.

Of course a tune up could derail the fight altogether if either Pacquiao or Mayweather Jr. were to lose... but come one, we are talking about the Two Pound for Pound Kings here!

My final thought... a tune up each, and then on to the big show.
