“The Ultimate Fighter” Season 10 Live Finale Set for Saturday Night By Jim Genia (Dec 5, 2009) DoghouseBoxing
This week the tenth season of the popular SpikeTV reality series “The Ultimate Fighter” drew to a close, and as per the usual formula, the result is a pair of fighters ready to battle it out on live television for a six-figure contract and the moniker of Ultimate Fighter. With TUF 10 focusing exclusively on the heavyweight division, viewers who tune in to SpikeTV on Saturday night will get to see portly grappler Roy “Big Country” Nelson take on the hard-hitting Brendan Schaub two men who, while sequestered in a house in Las Vegas for six weeks during the summer, defeated three opponents in the Octagon. It’s a fight worth watching, as despite his decidedly non-fighter look, Nelson is far more experienced and accomplished, leaving Schaub as the actual underdog.
Also competing on Saturday night is Kimbo Slice, who tasted defeated at the hands of Nelson early on in the season but whose presence alone made TUF 10 (and especially the episode he fought on) the most-watched installment ever. Slice will be facing Houston Alexander, a fellow member of the “Big Striker but Weak Chin” club.
In a wrestler versus wrestler match-up, TUF 3 competitor Matt Hamill will take on Greco-Roman magician Jon Jones, and in an ex-NFL player against ex-NFL player pairing, Marcus Jones will face Matt Mitrione.
