Where is Regis Prograis?

To
anyone that has seen him fight, Regis Prograis is the greatest thing
since sliced bread.
He’s
smooth-talking, good looking, and packs a walloping punch.
He
made it to the highest levels of amateur boxing, coming up just short
time after time against nemesis Errol Spence, but not before putting
Spence through three minute sessions of hell on Earth.
Realizing
he won’t make the Olympic team and that his style is more conducive
to the professional ranks, Prograis turned professional.
There
is only one problem: he can’t get a fight.
There
are three major shows scheduled for the next two months in Texas,
each hosted by major boxing promoters: one Top Rank, one Golden Boy,
and one Goossen Tutor.
Yet,
despite his superb amateur record and claims of all those of the
Savannah Boxing Club in Houston, Texas, and opponents who have had
the unfortunate luck of facing him, Prograis has had no luck in
securing a debut match on any of those shows.
Prograis
is what bloodthirsty boxing fans love, he stands toe to toe and wants
to hurt his opponents, despite the punishment coming his way. It
seems so simple.
Miguel
Cotto was looked at the same way. He was a very good amateur boxer,
but not the best. Those around him told anyone that listened that his
style would make for a sensational professional and would bring
crowds out in droves. They were right.
So
this is a sincere request to the power brokers in boxing: put Regis
Prograis on, you’ll thank me later.
