UFC President Dana White disses Boxing's Gary Shaw and Jay Larkin
By Media Report (March 9, 2007) Doghouse Boxing
In a recent interview conducted by Sam Caplan and published on CBS SportsLine, UFC President Dana White was asked if he was worried about outside interests from the sport of Boxing coming into the UFC. White is not really worried but took the time out to diss Gary Shaw and Jay Larkin for getting involved with UFC for the wrong reasons.
Caplan asked White if he was concerned about boxing promoters entering MMA and possibly ruining things. Caplan
asked: "Is the negative influence of boxing promoters enough to threaten all the progress the UFC has made in recent years?"
Dana White responded to the question, saying: "Not really, you know they're just bad guys; they're in it for the wrong reason. I mean, all these guys who are getting involved, they crack me up."
White went on to use Larkin and Shaw as examples, saying: "You know you've got Gary Shaw and Jay Larkin now. You know Gary Shaw three years ago thought MMA was a joke. Jay Larkin is a guy I talked to five years ago that wouldn't put it on Showtime; didn't believe in it at all, now he's getting a paycheck from one of the companies and now he's all about it. These are all guys who didn't have the passion for it, didn't like it and didn't see the future in it."
