UFC 61 Results - Tim Sylvia vs. Andrei Arlovski
By DHB (July 9, 2006)
Tonight at UFC 61 the main event was Tim "The Maine-iac" Sylvia (24-2-0) vs. Andrei "Pit Bull" Arlovski (11-5-0). Sylvia retain the UFC heavyweight title with a unanimous decision. At times the action was stale and the crowd jeered.

It wasn't exciting as it could have been, but in the end Sylvia did more than enough to retain his UFC title.

The fight went the distance. In the match, Sylvia rocked Arlovski with a solid right hand about two minutes in the first
round. In the second-round a punch from Sylvia ended up cutting Arlovski on the side of the head.

In the third and fourth rounds the action subsided. Both fighters seemed to be taking it easy. In the fifth round Sylvia did more, punching Arlovski and controlling the action. In the end Arlovski had his eyes bloodied and swollen.

On the Undercard, Tito Ortiz needed only 1:18 in the first round to finish off Ken Shamrock. Shamrock while on the ground took 4 to 5 unanswered elbows to the head, prompting the ref to halt the bout. "If Shamrock wants to do it again, I'll do it again. I have no problem with that," said Ortiz.
