Lonsdale Signs Up For The Contender

Lonsdale have signed up as the official boxing equipment and apparel provider to the UK team in the new ITV TV series of The Contender. Each member of the team will be kitted out in Lonsdale from head to toe in and outside of the ring with Lonsdale even providing the formal suits. The Contender UK versus USA live show will take place at the Metroradio Arena, Newcastle on March 30th in front of 10,000 people.

Whichever team wins the most fights on the night will be presented with the Sugar Ray Leonard Cup. Former WBA

world feather-weight champion, Barry McGuigan, will captain the UK team, whilst seven time world champion, Sugar Ray Leonard, will be at the helm of the USA team.

The Contender will be broadcast on ITV in the UK, ESPN in the USA and on broadcasters globally over a six week period. In addition to showing the fights, the weekly programmes will keep viewers up to date with the action behind the scenes.
